We all want our smiles to be brighter and whiter. A beautiful smile may be simpler than you think! We offer In-Office Whitening and Take-Home Whitening options. Dr. Stangebye will discuss which option would be best for your smile!
What is tooth whitening?
Tooth whitening is a process that has been around for many years. Fortunately, due to improvements in materials we can now provide a more comfortable, effective, and affordable option to whiten your teeth.
Is the treatment safe?
Yes! Clinical studies have shown that bleaching with the solution that we use, under the supervision of a trained dental professional is safe for your teeth and gums.
Why are my teeth discolored?
There are many causes of tooth discoloration. Some of the most common include the consumption of highly colored foods and drinks (berries, coffee, tea, red wine). Antibiotics at a young age, the normal aging process, and trauma can cause discoloration.
What if I have crowns or fillings on my front teeth?
If you do have existing restorations on your front teeth, the solutions will not change the color of them. Many times, your natural teeth can discolor over time and not match your restorations. Teeth Whitening can lighten your natural teeth to be a closer match to your restorations.
What are the side effects?
For the majority of patients, there are none. However, some will experience temporary sensitivity (dull or sharp, sensitivity to hot and cold). This will subside several hours after ceasing the treatment. In addition, your dentist can provide you with a desensitizing gel which will decrease/eliminate those side effects.
