Six Reasons Why You Should Use Your Dental Benefits

SIX REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD
USE YOUR DENTAL BENEFITS

We've all heard the saying "use it or lose it," well that is especially true when it comes to dental benefits. We want to assist you in maximizing your dental insurance benefits and essentially save you money.

1. Yearly Maximum

This is the limit on how much your dental insurance plan will pay within one full year. Most are capped at $1000 to $1500 and usually renew on January 1st. If you have unused benefits, these will not roll over to the next year, they will be lost.

2. Deductible

This a set amount of money you must pay before your insurance company will pay towards any treatment. If you've received dental treatment this year, you've probably met or made some progress towards your deductible. Completing treatment this year will help you avoid paying your deductible twice.

3. Premiums

This one is simple, if you are paying for your dental insurance premiums every month, you should be using your benefits.

4. Changes in Dental Coverage

Each year your employer evaluates your dental policy they've set up for you. They may or may not change your plan. Sometimes it's for the better, but other times it's for the worse. Open enrollment is the time to start looking into these changes.

5. Dental Problems Can Worsen

Once decay starts to form, it only grows and becomes more invasive. Addressing dental decay early can prevent problems from getting worse. Delaying dental treatment can result in more extensive and expensive treatment.

6. Utilize your Flexible Spending contributions

This is an account you may have established with your employer. This is pre-taxed money that has been set aside for health related expenses. If you do not use your FSA contributions before the end of the year, you lose them.
